LG to Inaugurate Newly Constructed Port Control Tower-cum-Passengers Hall at Hut Bay

Port Blair, Feb. 25: The Lt. Governor, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) will be on a day’s visit to Hut Bay, Little Andaman, on Feb 27, 2018. The Lt. Governor will be accompanied by the First Lady of the Islands, Smti Chitra Joshi. During his stay at Little Andaman, the Lt. Governor will visit Onge settlement, Dugong Creek and hold meeting with Onge people in the morning. Thereafter, the Lt. Governor will visit and inspect the PHC Hut Bay. He will also visit GSSS Hut Bay and inspect the School. Later, the Lt. Governor will hold a meeting with PRI members, local officers and farmers of Little Andaman in the APWD Guest House, Hut Bay.
The Lt Governor will also visit other places viz Waterfall at Hut Bay No.6, Kalapathar and Butler Bay Beaches, in the afternoon. In the evening, the Lt. Governor will inaugurate a newly constructed Port Control Tower-cum-Passengers Hall at Hut Bay at 4 pm. He will also visit the Nicobarese Settlement at Harminder Bay, Little Andaman. On completion of the visit, the Lt. Governor will return to Port Blair the next day.
Chief Secretary Reviews Public Interest Issues Raised by Member of Parliament

Port Blair, Feb 25: A review meeting on the issues raised by the Member of Parliament, Shri Bisnu Pada Ray on various development matters in the larger interest of the Islanders was held in the Conference Hall of the Secretariat under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration at 05.30 p.m. on 23.02.2018.
The Chief Secretary, A & N Administration being Chairman took up all issues raised by the Member of Parliament and heard each and every issue patiently. After detailed discussions on every points/issues, the Chief Secretary ordered the respective heads of department to ensure the fulfilment of each and every issue on priority. He further advised, if any bottleneck in any manner on any issue that should be brought to the notice of the Chief Secretary and the Member of Parliament as well immediately. It was also decided that the matter, which needs consent/concurrence/approval of the Ministry should be expedited under to intimation of the Member of Parliament, A & N Islands for pursuing the said matter in the Ministry.
Later, on the same day at 06.30 hrs, the UT Level meeting of MPLAD was also held in the Conference Hall of the Secretariat under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration. The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District furnished the physical and financial status of MPLAD works through power point presentation. After detailed discussion, it was decided that all the MPLAD works should be awarded trough the e-tendering process.
The Chief Secretary directed both the Deputy Commissioners to monitor the MPLAD works to avoid delay in completion of the works. Further, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman has been asked to ensure the release outstanding PMPLAD fund i.e. the 2nd installment of 2016-17, 1st and 2nd installment of 2017-18 and 1st installment of 2018-19.
Model Congratulates Cycling Star Esow

Port Blair, Feb 25: The Principal, staff and students of Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Aberdeen, Port Blair have congratulated their Ex-student Kumar Esow of Class X for his outstanding achievement in the recently held Asian Junior Cycling Championship held in Malaysia.
Esow brought laurels to the country by winning three gold medals in team sprint, kerein race and individual sprint and thus he has become the only cyclist to achieve this distinction in Asian Continental Championship. The school has also congratulated his local coach Shri S. Sengupta whose training transformed talented young sportspersons like Deborah, Martha, Neeta and now Esow into an International level Cycling Stars.
