Port Blair, Feb 25: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands expresses heartfelt condolence on the sudden demise of Shri CH Dandasi, Sr. Investigator of Statistical Cadre, A & N Administration. He died at Hyderabad today (23.02.2018) after a prolonged illness. He was 54 years and left behind his wife, two sons and a daughter. The Association conveys its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved members of his family.
Lt. Governor to Inaugurate Andaman Yacht Carnival 2018

Port Blair, Feb 23: The Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd) will be inaugurating the Andaman Yacht Carnival 2018 which has been initiated by the Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry in association with the Port Management Board and Department of Tourism with the support of M/s Andaman Holidays Private Ltd. on Sunday 25th February 2018 at 5.30 pm at the Passenger Hall of Port Management Board at Haddo. A total of 18 yachts have arrived as on date to participate in the Carnival. The objective of the initiative is to promote Andaman Islands as a Yacht destination in the Yachting community.

Grievances of fishers needs to be addressed on priority: Minister
Port Blair, Feb. 23: The Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India, Smt. Krishna Raj visited Havelock today and interacted with the officers of the Department of Fisheries and local fishers. The fishers including the Up-Pradhan, Shri Vallab Rao raised few issues like immediate restoration of cold storage facility run by ANIIDCO, to provide fenders in the Fish Landing Centre to avoid damage to the fishing boat; and posting of a regular Fisheries Inspector at the Fisheries Sub-Station, Havelock. The Minister, on hearing the grievances raised by the fishers, directed the Director of Fisheries to attend the issues on priority.
Responding to the issues, Dr. Utpal Kumar Sar, Director of Fisheries informed that the matter related to the cold storage shall be taken up with ANIIDCO for early restoration. In the meantime, the fishers can purchase deep freezer by availing subsidy under Ratriya Krishi Vikaas Yojana (RKVY). As regard to providing fenders in the Fish Landing Centre, the Director said that the matter will be taken up with the ALHW for early action and posting of a regular Inspector for Havelock shall be done on priority.
