Port Blair, Nov. 20: The Zilla Parishad South Andaman Office, Port Blair has been renamed as Atal Bhawan today to pay homage to the former Prime Minister of India, Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Upon the renaming of Zilla Parishad Office, the entire team of Atal Foundation, A&N Islands comprising of the State President Atal Foundation, Shri Aziz Ur Rehman and the Vice Presidents have expressed their happiness by felicitating Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad South Andaman and Up-Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman. The decision to rename the ZPSA Office as Atal Bhawan was made on November 16, 2023 during a house meeting.

Port Blair, Nov. 20: The Andaman Nicobar Pradesh Youth Congress observed the 106th Birth Anniversary of Indira Gandhi to influence women's empowerment and integrity to the society

The Pradesh Youth Congress demonstrated its commitment to women empowerment through a programme organized in observance of the 106th Birth Anniversary of the Iron Lady, the First Women Former Prime Minister of India Late. Indira Gandhi under the leadership of its President Ms. Diksha Dular and Vice-President Mr. Abhibhusan Ghosh along with the State General Secretaries Mr. H Yusuf and Ms. Kajal Kishen.

Port Blair, Nov. 20: Master Dinakar M A, a Class IX student of Kamaraj EM School and a Rated Player with a FIDE Rating of 1176 from the Islands, has been awarded the title of Arena Candidate Master (ACM) by the World Chess Federation for his outstanding performance in the FIDE Online Arena (FOA). The FIDE Online Arena is the official playing platform of the International Chess Federation (FIDE).

Port Blair, Nov. 20: The meeting of the Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee of CPI (M) was held at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair today (20.11.2023).   Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, State Organising Committee presented the report on the activities of the Party since last meeting.

Shri G. Ramakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member of the Party reported the decisions taken in the meeting of Central Committee of the party. He said that various issues pertaining to the islanders are pending for the last several years. He briefly explained the anti-people functioning of the government at the centre and stressed the need to challenge this authoritarian government which poses a serious threat to our democracy, secularism and constitution.    

Port Blair, Nov. 20:  Shri V. K. Abdul Aziz, Member, Bindaban Constituency, South Andaman has written to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration recently urging for a cadre review and restructuring of Panchayat Secretary and IT Cadre under the A&N Administration.

In his letter, Abdul Aziz mentioned that it has come to his notice that employees in both of these cadres have now accumulated more than 25 to 30 years of service, and those appointed to the positions of Panchayat Secretary and Computer Assistant are expected to retire in the same posts after serving for more than 30 years.
