Port Blair, April 2: In line with its unwavering commitment to combat drug-related activities, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station executed a targeted anti-narcotics operation on April 1, 2024. Acting on specific intelligence indicating the transportation of contraband via courier services, a specialized team of Anti-Narcotics Police Station comprising of Insp. S Kannan, SHO Anti-Narcotics Police Station, SI Mohd Rahil Islam, HC/786 Abdul Salaam, PC/2836 M. Raja which was led by Shri Vishesh Dhatterwal, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics), CID, conducted a raid at main Post Office, Aberdeen, Port Blair. The raid resulted in arrest of one person namely Mr G Neeraj S/o Late P Gopal, student of B.A (Political Science), Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyaya, Port Blair, Resident of Pongichaun, Port Blair with possession of a parcel containing 325 grams of  Ganja which was transported from mainland through Government postal courier services. 

Billiground, April 2: In a swift and efficient operation carried out on 01/04/2024, the Billiground Police successfully confiscated a significant quantity of illicit liquor at the dense forest of Curtbet Bay. Acting promptly on a tip, SI M.V Shiju Kumar, SHO, PS Billiground formed a specialized team consisting of SI Indrajit, ASI Muchray Munday, PCs Sujan, Shelvam, Anurudra Mondal and Mohd. Mustafa, The proactive team successfully seized a significant quantity of 400 liters of Lehan, along with 02 Nos. iron drum, 04 Nos. plastic jerrican, other utensils and timber materials used in the production process. These materials were discreetly hidden within the jungle. Subsequently, all confiscated items were promptly destroyed, dealing a major blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.

Port Blair, April 2: The Election Commission of India has asked Political Parties or Candidates or any other Organizations or Persons to refrain from publishing any advertisement in the print media without Pre-certification on Poll Day and one day prior to Poll Day. The Election Commission in its letter issued to the Chief Electoral Officer of all States & UTs April 1,2024, has stated that instances of advertisements of offending and misleading nature published in print media have been brought to the notice of the Commission in the past. Such advertisements in the last stage of the election vitiate the entire election process and the affected candidates and parties will not have any opportunity of providing clarification/rebuttal in such cases.

Port Blair, April 2: As part of the General Election-2024, training for Micro Observers (MOs) appointed for the Election in ANIPC was held in the conference hall of DBRAIT here today. Micro Observers have a very crucial role to play in the conduct of an independent, free and fair election. Initiating the training, Dr. A Abraham through a power point presentation highlighted the role and functions of Micro Observers. The MOs need to observe the overall election process of the polling booths assigned to him, he said adding that the MO will monitor and assess the preparedness for the poll at the Polling Station.

Port Blair, April 2: On 01/04/2024, acting on a specific intelligence input from reliable source, a team of PS Central Crime Station comprising of Inspector Girish Kumar, SHO, PS CCS, comprising HC Venkateshwar Rao, HC Sanjit Madhu, and constables K. Rajendran, N. Thangaraj, and Y. Srinivas Rao, apprehended one person namely Samar Chandra Das S/o Late. Sunil Chandra Das R/o Kala Pathar, Sippighat with 174 pieces measuring 1.087 Cbm of illegal sawn padauk timber of different sizes and 08 door frames from his house. Padauk timbers were seized and accused person was detained after following due procedure.
