Port Blair, March 22: The Chief Electoral Officer, Shri B.S. Jaglan, IAS visited ‘Election Permission Cell’, Braille EPIC preparation Cell set up in the Office premises of the Returning Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency today and interacted with the staff. The staff explained the procedure of various permission being granted and procedure of Braille EPIC preparation for all visually impaired electors.

Port Blair, March 22: On March 22, 2024, the proactive team of PS Mayabunder took swift action based on credible information regarding the illegal sale of venison meat at a residence in Webi village, Mayabunder. A raiding team, led by SI Dinesh Meena, SI (IRBn) Neethi J Vetriarsan, PCs B. Dilleshwar Rao, K Balraju, and S.Tamil Selvi, was formed immediately.

The team conducted a raid at the premises of Ms. Sumanti Toppo, w/o Thomas Uraon, in Webi, Mayabunder. During the search, illegal wildlife products were discovered on the backyards, including 3 kgs of dry meat (likely venison), 1 deer head, 12 packets of venison meat weighing approximately 11.5 kgs and 1 Nos. Air gun.

Kalighat, March 22: In a swift and efficient operation carried out on 22/03/2024, the Kalighat Police successfully confiscated a significant quantity of illicit lehan at jungle near Parangara Village.

Acting promptly on a tip, SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO, PS Kalighat formed a specialized team consisting of ASI Mukesh Charan, I/c OP Kishorinagar, PCs Jaspal Singh, Ripon Mistry and Subrato Biswas. The proactive team successfully seized a significant quantity of 500 liters of Lehan, stored in various utensils, and timber materials used in the production process. These materials were discreetly hidden deep within the jungle. Subsequently, all confiscated items were promptly destroyed, dealing a major blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network. The swift action shown by the team has been lauded and they will be suitably rewarded.

Port Blair, March 22: The Valedictory function of two days Kisan Mela on the theme: Agripreneurship Development in Islands concluded today on 21st March, 2023. More than 500 farmers representing different clusters of villages from South, Middle, North Andaman & Nicobar participated in the event.

While addressing farmer audience the Chief Guest, Dr. N. K. Krishna Kumar., Ex-DDG, Horticulture Science, ICAR-New Delhi deliberated on the prospects of linking the avocation with the upcoming National and International tourism inclusive of all the components like crop, livestock, culture, heritage etc. The success of the same will be visible only when like-minded farmers have join to organize, present and run the business themselves. He shared his experience of tribal village of Odisha, Goa, Thailand and many other which has gained value and recognition to the enterprises/places/country. Port Blair, March 22: The First Randomization of EVMs to be used in the forthcoming General Elections-2024 to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency was held today in the Conference Hall of Office of the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman under the supervision of Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, DC (SA)/Deputy Election Officer, South Andaman and Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, SDM (SA)/Nodal (EVM) and in the presence of representatives of National and State recognized Political Parties. After randomization, the list of randomized EVMs was provided to the representative of Political Parties.
