Port Blair, March 20: As part of the ‘Lok Sabha Election-2024’, the Chief Electoral Officer, Shri B.S. Jaglan, IAS, today visited the Govt. Press to oversee the arrangements put in place for the printing & supply of requisite election forms, especially ‘Postal Ballot’ and Ballot Papers as per the specifications prescribed by the Election Commission of India. The Director, IP&T, Dr. Jatinder Sohal was also present during the visit. The CEO visited Machine Section, Binding Section and Gazette Section, Offset Unit and interacted with the Staff manning the sections. He also saw the copies of the Gazette Notifications, related to elections, which were being printed during his visit. The CEO lauded the employees for their dedicated service in the printing of various election related materials.

 

Port Blair, March 20: A joint mock exercise on earthquake and fire incident was conducted in at  ISTRAC, Dollygunj, Port Blair today in coordination with the Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Police, A&N Fire & Emergency Services, Directorate of Health Services and District Administration by creating real time earthquake and fire simulation scenarios and tested the preparedness level and response system of CISF Team of ISTRAC and also observed safe evacuation, search & rescue and fire extinguish operations, first aid along with medical support to manage the fire incident scenario in the ISTRAC.

Port Blair, March 20: Headquarters, No.9 Coast Guard District North & Middle (N&M) Andaman at Diglipur, in conjunction with various Stakeholder agencies conducted two days Area Level Marine Oil Spill Pollution Response Exercise & Mock Drill at Diglipur on 18-19 Mar 2024. The exercise was aimed to evaluate the Capabilities and Response Mechanism to combat marine oil spill incident in the region. Preservation and protection of marine ecology and environment including combating oil spill at sea is one of the chartered duties of Indian Coast Guard. The exercise enhances Pollution Response expertise of various stakeholders and witnessed enthusiastic participation of 23 officials from Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, District Administration, Port Maritime Board, Dept. of Fisheries, Dept of Forest, Marine Police Force, etc.

Port Blair, March 20: Shri Satyajit Mandal, IRS has been appointed as the Expenditure Observer for ANI Parliamentary Constituency by the Election Commission of India. It is informed that the Expenditure Observer for General Elections 2024 will be available at South Point Circuit House in Room No. 102 between 10 am & 11 am for meeting the general public or addressing queries regarding election expenditure. His period of stay will be from 20.03.2024 to 23.03.2024 followed by a second visit from 25.03.2024 to 18.04.2024.

Mayabunder, March 20: North and Middle Andaman District Police is actively preparing for the upcoming Lok Sabha General Election 2024 with thorough planning and efficient implementation of security measures. A dedicated Election cell has been formed for preparation and planning for election and to liaise with District Administration.

The Superintendent of Police N&MA, Sub-Divisional Police Officers of Rangat and Diglipur, along with all Station House Officers of the district, are regularly conducting visits to all polling stations, especially, focusing on Critical, Isolated and Sensitive polling stations to ensure availability of basic amenities and inspecting the security aspects of every locality. Any deficiencies observed are promptly taken up with the appropriate authorities to resolve immediately. Besides, transportation and communication arrangements for all polling stations have been confirmed for necessary preparations.
