Rangat, Mar. 10: International Women’s Day 2024 was celebrated by ICDS Project, Rangat on Mar. 8, with great enthusiasm highlighting the theme ‘Invest in women: Accelerate Progress’. The event, organised by the ICDS Rangat, featured a series of engaging activities aimed at honouring and empowering women. Participants engaged in discussion focusing on gender equality, women’s rights, and the importance of women empowerment to drive social economic progress.

Port Blair, Mar. 10: The (Branch) MSME Development & Facilitation Office, Port Blair will be organizing and awareness program on MSME Competitiveness (Lean) Scheme at Port Blair on Mar. 12 & 13. The objective of the program is to make MSMEs aware about various Lean techniques that help in increasing the competitiveness of MSMEs and also to provide information on Government assistance available in the scheme.

 

Port Blair, March 8: The Presence of United States Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf in Andaman is a Signal to the world of Growing Cooperation between the two countries United States and India, said Captain William Billy Mees during an interaction with the media today at Hotel Sinclairs Bay View.

The United States Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf entered Port Blair harbour on 7th March 2024, after covering more than 16,000 Kms, for a joint exercise with Indian Coast Guard.

Port Blair, Mar. 10: Taking note of the various trends and cases of plummeting levels of political campaign discourse in recently held elections, the Election Commission of India has issued further advisory to all political parties to maintain decorum and utmost restraint in public campaigning and raise the level of election campaigning to “issue” based debate.

The Commission has also put the Star Campaigners and candidates on a ‘notice’ in case of violations that followed the previously known methodologies during elections to avoid MCC. The Election Commission will assess any indirect MCC violations as per advisory as a fair basis to re-work the notices to be given in terms of time and content in issue in the forthcoming elections. For the General Election to Lok Sabha and General Election to four State Legislative Assemblies, all phases and geographical area of elections shall be the basis to determine “repeat” offences.

Port Blair, March 8: On the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of INAS 318 and International Women’s Day on 08 March, a maiden all-women maritime surveillance mission was undertaken by Andaman & Nicobar Command. The crew based at INS Utkrosh comprised Lt Cdr Shubhangi Swaroop, Lt Cdr Divya Sharma and Lt Vaishali Mishra.

The occasion highlighted the crucial role played by women combatants in all the walks of Naval Air Arm, which included pre-flight briefing, meteorological briefing medical check-up and ATC briefing, all of which were conducted by women officers. This milestone underscores the commitment of A & N Command towards providing equal opportunities to all genders and fostering gender neutrality within the Indian Armed Forces. The successful completion of the mission affirms the capability of women to undertake independent operational tasks and sends a powerful message of inclusivity and empowerment, highlighting the invaluable contributions of women towards our nation’s defence and security.
