Port Blair, May 14: The Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council, Shri. N.K. Udhaya Kumar has marked a letter to the Home Minister of India, highlighting the issue of the stranded students and islanders in the different states of the Country. 

As many students prefer to move to mainland for preparing themselves for getting admission in premier Medical /Engineering Institutes of national repute. This has motivated our student’s from the islands to join the bandwagon and hundreds of student’s move every year to different parts of India.

Port Blair, May 13: The islanders have seen many IAS Officers who served the Administration in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Many of such officers are never known to the general public, while a few are never forgotten by the islanders.

One such IAS is Mr. D. Manikandan, presently serving as the Joint Secretary, Home in the Tamil Nadu Government. The officer has come as a blessing in disguise for the stranded patients in the GB Pant Hospital of Andaman Islands, who were pending for specialized treatment at Chennai.

Governor, A & N Islands, Secretary (Shipping) A & N Administration, Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) & all other concerned official of Andaman & Nicobar Administration for starting the process of evacuating Stranded Inter-Islanders held up at Port Blair to various group of Islands where they reside, free of cost, on whose behalf constant efforts was made by our party leaders namely Shri. Sanjay Singh, State Vice President, BJP-A & N Islands & Shri. M.Vinod, State Vice President, BJP-A & N Islands.

Port Blair, May 13: Indian Medical Association, Andaman & Nicobar Islands Branch, represented by Dr. R. Thulasi Dasan (President) and Dr. Shiv Shankar Singh (Executive Committee Member) presented a cheque of Rupees Three Lakhs, contributed by 28 life members of the Association, towards the Lt. Governor’s Relief Fund, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Port Blair, May 12: The Education Directorate has directed all the Zonal Officers, Principals (non-vacational staff) as well as Vice Principals/ Headmaster (SS) (vacational staff to remain present at their respective places of postings during the summer vacation 2020 from 18/05/2020 to 16/07/2020 for undertaking the Digital Education programme, mid-day meal related works, distribution of educational materials, conducting the remaining board examinations of class XII and COVID-19 related duties in a smooth way.
