These Police Mitras will help police in not only Law & Order duties but also act as force multiplier in implementing lockdown and quarantine guidelines. The concept behind this initiative is that every common man is a policeman without uniform.

The need to have a setup of Police Mitra is to involve members of civil society in prevention of crime, maintenance of law and order and for better communication with citizens as a whole for the safety and security of public.

The services of ‘Police Mitra’ will be very useful in the prevention and detection of crime, coastal security,  protection of aboriginal tribes, juvenile aid, self-defense camps for girls, night patrolling, promoting communal harmony, disaster management etc. They can also make significant contributions in maintaining peace in their respective areas and act as a bridge between the police and public.
