Port Blair, May 18: Elaborating the importance / requirement of 20 Lakh Crore Rupees package recently announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the State President, BJP, A&N Islands, Shri Ajoy Bairagi said that a campaign will be launched shortly by state unit of BJP – A & N Islands to create awareness on benefits of newly launched schemes/packages, without violating any norms and guidelines of COVID-19, prevailing in force. Bairagi was speaking to the media at a press conference called at the BJP Bhavan, Port Blair on 16th May 2020.
The State President stressed on the slogan “VOCAL FOR LOCAL” given by PM and urged that local Industries should be given adequate support and preference. He said that the State unit of BJP–A & N Islands has worked tirelessly from the day one during the pandemic of COVID-19. Starting from the State, District, Mandal leaders, the Booth level Karyakartas have done commendable job. He informed that over 11,000 ration kits & over 19,000 handmade masks have distributed so far to needy and poor ones. The BJP- A & N Islands has so far donated about Rs. 8 Lakh towards PM-CARES Funds.
Bairagi also informed that BJP, A&N Islands is constantly trying to bring back the stranded Islanders stuck at various states due to lockdown and subsequent travel restrictions. Majority of who are patients, their attenders or students. As of now, the party has seriously taken up with all the concerned Officials and Ministries for earliest resolve of the above said issue.
The technical details of the announced package were also briefed by Shri T. K. Jijith Rekh, State Spokesperson, BJP-A & N Islands & State Incharge for bringing back Stranded Islanders. Shri M. Vinod, Vice President, BJP- A & N Islands further stated that Tourism Industry being one of the largest employing sectors of these Islands which has suffered a lot due to current situation. He assured that, the matter will be taken to concerned officials and ministries for support and relief.
