Port Blair, May 27: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has informed the Lt. Governor that the Kharif season in our Islands starts with arrival of South West monsoon and farmers are eagerly waiting to procure agricultural inputs like paddy seed, vegetable seeds, fertilizers etc. as these inputs are not readily available in the Sub Depots of Agriculture department in different Islands. The MP has therefore requested the Lt. Governor to consider the following relief to the farmers and cultivators of these Islands:-

(1). All the inputs like paddy seed, vegetable seeds, fertilizers etc.need to be made available in various Sub depots of the of Agriculture department located in different remote Islands to enable farmers to procure it before start of heavy monsoon rains and rough inclement weather.

(2). Farmers may be allowed to take required quantity of fuel in jerrican at the Petrol Pumps  as these dealer/outlets are not providing diesel and petrol in jerrican to farmers and it is not possible for the farmers to take their water pumps and power tiller to petrol pumps for fueling.
