Port Blair, June 3: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the matter of extending the registration of APWD Contractors whose validity has expired during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a letter to the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands today, the MP informed that due to unprecedented pandemic COVID-19 and subsequent lockdown from March, 2020 many of the APWD contractors enlistment has expired. In this situation, the contractors are not able to participate in tenders at present.

The MP therefore requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to consider for extension of validity of enlistment/ revalidation of registered APWD Contractors in all class and categories whose validity expired/expiring during the pandemic COVID-19, for further period of one year, so as to enable them to participate in future tender as well as to revalidate their enlistment in due course.
