Port Blair, June 18: The Port Blair Municipal Council is maintaining 74.00 Km of road stretches under its jurisdiction of 24 wards. Apart from providing other basic civic amenities to the citizens of Port Blair, PBMC has taken-up the initiative to resurface/ revamp the existing roads falling under its jurisdiction, across 24 Wards. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, GOI has sanctioned Rs 3342.95 Lakhs under Central Road Fund (CRF) Scheme for taking up 38.79 Kms of Road Works. 

At present, the resurfacing of road work has been carried out in Ward No. 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 for a length of 22.13 Kms by utilizing 15.92 MT of waste plastic in place of Bitumen (8 to 10%). It is worth to mention that around 24.02 KM stretch of road works are in progress and will be completed soon.
