Kamorta, July 24: A crocodile estimated to be around eight feet in length attacked a fisherman of Daring Village in the Nancowry group of islands. The incident took place yesterday at around 6.30 am when Anthony, the fisher was fishing in the shallow waters around one and a half kilometres from the shoreline. The attack took place when Anthony got down from his Hodi (country boat) in knee deep waters.

The crocodile appeared from nowhere and tried to pull the bag filled with fish, which was kept inside the Hodi. Soon after, the monster attacked Anthony, badly injuring his thigh and buttock area. In order to escape, the fisher threw the bag filled with fish, which paved way to his escape from the monster.

Anthony was brought to the Community Health Centre at Kamorta today, where he is being treated. The condition of the fisher is said to be stable.
