Port Blair, Aug 17: The Transport Department in a bid to provide improved services to the citizens has taken a historic step and shifted its Motor Vehicle Registration related activities from ‘VAHAN 1.0’ to VAHAN 4.0’ software version. The shifting of the process will enable the citizens to make the fee payment for transaction like road tax, fitness, registration, renewal, hypothecation etc. online and at the same time ATR Express bus ticketing will also be made available online.

Toward ensuring good governance, especially during the ongoing pandemic where maintenance of social distancing is of paramount importance to prevent the spread of the virus, it is expected that the effort to improve the quality of service being provided by the Administration would immensely benefit the citizen and bring about a positive change.

With the launch of VAHAN 4.0 version, many services will now be available to the citizens online. Road tax and all types of fee payment can now be paid from any place having net connectivity thereby avoiding multiple visits to the transport office. Applicants now will be informed about the status of their application at every stage by way of SMS to their registered mobile number.
