Port Blair, Sept. 6: On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, on 5th Sept. 2020, the Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma felicitated 07 (seven) schools in Port Blair Tehsil, South Andaman District by presenting mementos as a token of appreciation. The schools were felicitated by the MP for achieving 100% result for Class Xth and XIIth in the Board examination conducted by CBSE during 2020 and for the benevolent services rendered by teachers for betterment of the students who are futures of A&N Islands and nation as well. The MP visited all the seven schools personally and felicitated them for the achievements. The seven schools are:

1.Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Port Blair.

2.Govt. Boys Senior Secondary School, Port Blair

3.Govt. Senior Secondary School (Hindi Medium), Haddo, Port Blair

4.Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Port Blair

5.Ummat Public Senior Secondary School, Port Blair

6.Carmel Senior Secondary School, Port Blair

7.Saraswathi Sishu Mandir Senior Secondary School, Pathergudda, Port Blair – Achieved 100% result for Class XII also.

The Member of Parliament while presenting mementos expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to Principals, teachers and students of all the 45 schools who secured cent percent result in Class X and 23 Schools in class XII in the CBSE examination for the academic session 2019-2020.

The MP said, “We all since our childhood have been celebrating Teachers’ Day on 5th September every year to mark the birth anniversary of the former president Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was a well-known scholar, teacher and promoter of education. In the honour of the teaching fraternity, this day is dedicated to teachers, mentors, and gurus who guide us to be a better human being as well as make us a learned personality capable of facing every challenges of life. 

Sharma said, “Celebration of Teachers’ Day symbolizes importance of Teachers in one’s life and character building of the nation. Paying respect to teachers and acknowledging their contributions for nation building should not be a mere one day celebration but need to be practiced throughout the life”. 

He appreciated the endeavour of the teaching fraternity of the Islands who despite various constraints took up the challenge of imparting education through various mode of distant teaching in the COVID-19 ridden situation and also to the students and their parents in coping up with the pandemic ridden situation.

While appreciating the schools on achieving cent percent results, the MP said that in a class comprising of more than 50 to 60 students of varying academic caliber, achieving cent percent results could be possible only by concerted, tireless and whole hearted efforts put in by the teachers of various subjects.

The felicitation programme for the remaining schools who secured 100% result for Class X and XII in the Islands will be done subsequently in due course of time.
