Port Blair, Sept. 20: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to exempt the total number of 165 days lockdown period i.e. from 20.03.2020 to 31.08.2020 for the purpose of adherence to the time line prescribed for various purposes for the in-service and retired government servants of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to enable them to utilise the same for availing the benefits entitled under relevant rules.  

He said that in view of the unprecedented situation arises out of Lockdown in these Islands from 20.03.2020 to 31.08.2020 followed by nationwide lockdown to outbreak the COVID-19 Pandemic, the mandatory timeline provided for various purposes related to service matter, retention of government accommodation after retirement, availing of transportation facilities by the retired government servant to  home town/permanent place of settlement, submission of TA Bills for the journey performed, transportation of personal effects and conveyance after retirement between the same places, submission of claim for payment, matter related to disciplinary proceedings etc. as prescribed under the relevant rules could not be utilised by the in-service and retired government servants.

The Member of Parliament therefore requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to exempt the period of lockdown of total 165 days i.e. from 20.03.2020 to 31.08.2020 for the purpose of adherence to the timeline prescribed for various purposes for the in-service and retired government servants of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
