Port Blair, Sept. 28: Acting tough on bootlegging, South Andaman District Police have registered 04 excise cases and arrested 04 persons on 28th September, 2020. A total of 177 bottles of IMFL and 02 beer bottles were seized.

On the tip off, the District Special Team comprising ASI Surya Narayan constables M. Santosh Kumar and Bipul Haldar headed by Inspector Sanjay Kumar, SHO Aberdeen conducted raids at dairy farm near Kashmi Clinic and near Mohanpura Market, resulted recovery of 165 IMFL bottles and arrested 02 persons. Subsequently, the team of PS Chatham also conducted raids and seized 12 bottles of IMFL & 02 beer bottles followed by arrest of 02 persons.

Further, cases were registered at respective Police Stations under Excise Regulation against the bootleggers namely (1) C. Yuvaraja (24 yrs.) r/o Dairy farm near Kashmi Clinic  (2) Vignesh (19 yrs.) R/o Buniyadabad near Ayyappa Temple (3) Anand S/o Late Tataiah (43 yrs.) R/o Haddo (4) Shyam S/o Late Malakkan (27yrs) R/o Haddo and after observing all codal formalities, accused were arrested. 

The entire raid took place under the supervision of Shri. Narra Chaitanya, IPS, SDPO South Andaman and under the overall direction and supervision of Shri. Manoj C., IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The general public is requested to share information pertaining to any crime or other illegal activities to police at 100, 112, & 03192-233077. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
