‘A Tribute to Their Unwavering Dedication Towards Duty’

Port Blair, Oct. 28: As part of ‘Police Flag Day’ commemorative events planned from 21-31 October, a solemn condolence event was organized to pay homage to the Martyrs and Corona warriors on 28th October, 2020 at Police Lines, for their tireless service, unflinching courage and utmost dedication. Shri Madhup Kumar Tewari, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (L&O), was the Chief Guest of the occasion. 

Ms. Amrutha Guguloth, IPS, Superintendent of Police (AP), welcomed the gathering which comprised of all ranks of Police personnel and family members of the Police Martyrs and highlighted the selfless deed of the martyrs and their contribution by reading out their names.

 Addressing the gathering, the Additional Director General of Police (L&O), Chief Guest, lauded the observance of Police Flag Day throughout the country to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought to safeguard the country’s honour. There cannot be a nobler cause than laying down one’s life for the country. At the same time, our admiration for the martyrs should not mean that we have little time for the living heroes who were wounded on their duty towards our motherland, he added. He also expressed his deepest gratitude and paid tributes to the martyrs of A&N Police for their supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

He also cautioned for due care and precautions for prevention of COVID-19 infection to the Police personnel. He stressed that all the advisory & directives of Govt. of India and A&N Administration for social distancing ‘Do Gaj Ki Doori’, use of face masks, maintenance of personal hygiene and at workplace shall be followed by all Police personnel. 

The Chief Guest, Police officers and family members of Martyrs paid homage to the brave souls by placing wreaths & flowers. A token of gratitude, was presented to the family members of the Police Martyrs by the Chief Guest. All protocols related to prevention and containment of spread of COVID-19 was observed during the event.
