Ex-ZP Adhyaksh Takes Up the Issue with DC N&M
Port Blair, Oct. 28: Due to the declaration of containment zone at Rangat, a very large area is presently under lockdown leading to which business and other economic activities are badly affected. Presently only one patient of Rangat area is tested positive that too is due to the medical negligence.
Taking up the issue with the Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman, the Ex-Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, N&M Andaman, Shri P Prasad said that the single victim at Rangat, had approached CHC Rangat for chest pain, but he was kept with the positive cases brought from Kadamtala. The vital facts to be noted here is that people are tested with rapid antigen test kit and are confirmed as positive through this test only, which is not reliable. Two such instances from Rangat itself testifies this argument, where persons tested positive have been sent to Port Bair where they were tested negative.
The Ex-Adhyaksh explaining the situation to the Dy. Commissioner has suggested:
- Containment orders may be lifted as far as Rangat is concerned since there is no positive case from this locality.
- Since positive cases are confirmed through Rapid Antigen Test, such positive case should not be kept with other positive cases until it is reconfirmed through RTPCR. Instead such case should be quarantined at home or at quarantine centre under the surveillance of the District Administration. Such patients should be hospitalized and kept in isolation only if they show symptoms of SARI.
- In case a particular locality or area from where multiple persons are tested positive through Rapid Antigen Test, such locality should only be declared as containment zone that too at a micro level.
If these decisions are taken, it would help to contain the spread of COVID at Rangat and adjoining area and at the same time economic activities will also get momentum, which is already damaged during the lockdown for a period of 4-5 months, said Prasad.
Now we all need to live a discipline life amidst CORONA following social distancing and other protocols of the Govt. until vaccines are delivered, containment zones or lockdown will not going to help in any manner, he added.
