Property Worth Rs. 25 Lakhs Turned to Ashes
Port Blair, Nov. 3: At about 10.08 am, a fire accident was reported at the Fire Control Room that a major fire broke out in the shop of CCS Ltd. at Bhatubasti. Acting upon the information, water tender from Fire Station Garacharma was immediately rushed to the accident site to control the fire.
As an additional support, Water Tenders from Fire Stations Aberdeen, Marine, Chatham and Haddo Wharf were also requisitioned for fore fighting. Simultaneously Water Bousers and Water Mist and additional man power were also despatched to the scene of fire.
The property was worth Rs. 65 Lakhs, in which the loss incurred is estimated to be of Rs. 25 Lakhs, which includes Gold Ornaments and Cash kept in the house.
The cause of fire is under investigation by the FSL team of Police, Fire Service and Electricity.
Meanwhile, the Chief Fire Officer, S.K. Meena, IFB, S Kullu, IFB Edwin Fernandes, STO FS Aberdeen Saibal Sinha, STO FS Garacharma, Murugeshan under the supervision of SP Fire and their staff had visited the site to investigate the cause of accident. The team found that the building was totally unsafe and the first floor of the building was completely gutted. The coordinated Fire Fighting by the Fire Officers had helped save the Ground Floor of CCS without any damage to the items stored in.
