Port Blair, Nov. 6: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Andaman & Nicobar Islands under the leadership of Shri. N.K Udhaya Kumar, President and under overall leadership of Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, organised a peaceful protest in front of BJP Headquarters, Port Blair against the recent arrest of the journalist Shri. Arnab Goswami, Editor of Republic TV by the Maharastra Police, following political vendetta of the Maharastra Government.

The recent events leading to the arrest is known to the world where Arnab Goswami was being harassed by the Maharastra Government in multiple ways by filing fake and biased FIRs against him and his company ARG Outliner Media Pvt. Ltd. the promoter of Republic TV.

The criticism of the Maharastra Government by the Journalist Arnab Goswami led to his arrest in a case, which was closed by the same Raigad Police earlier on grounds of lack of evidence and which was opened again without following the due process of law and without the permission of the competent court, hastily just to pursue the political vendetta.

The video of the arrest recorded by the family of Arnab Goswami also showed the journalist being pushed and probably assaulted by the teams of Maharastra Police. To protest against the draconian emergency like attack on the free press, the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha organised the protest where slogans were shouted and the Karyakartas protested against the Maharastra Govt. and called for releasing Arnab Goswami, a reputed journalist.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has been protesting against the arrest since the time the news of the arrest spread and the Karyakartas of the Bahratiya Janata Party has been organising such protests throughout the country in support of the journalist. Bahratiya Janata Party believes in the freedom of the press and is completely against the draconian behaviour as displayed by the Maharastra Govt.

The members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and the State Unit of BJP call upon the Maharastra Govt. to set Shri. Arnab Goswami free or it will continue its protest in the Islands along with the rest of the country for a free press.
