Port Blair, Nov. 18: In order to contain the further spread of the COVID-19 infection in the islands, the District Administration is conducting field surveillance to identify the COVID-19 suspects by engaging staffs of different departments such as ANMs, CHOs, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Anganwadi helpers, Teachers, Revenue Dept. staff, Forest Dept. staff and APWD staff.
Field staffs are visiting house to house and asking general public about the symptoms of the COVID-19 and also doing screening of people by thermal scanner & pulse oximeter on rotational basis. Based on information from field surveillance suspected ILI and SARI cases are being monitored by the dedicated control room of the District Administration and medicines also disbursed to all ILI & SARI cases patients at their doorsteps. Daily around 18,000 households and approximately 65,000 persons are covered as part of field surveillance.
The District Administration seeks active participation of all in this fight and requests general public to strictly follow the TWO GOLDEN PRINCIPLES of COVID-19:- (1) Wear mask properly and (2) Maintain social distancing / 2 gaz ki doori.
