Port Blair, Nov. 19: The Novel Corona Virus (Covid-19) as a pandemic has threatened the health and lives of millions of people around the globe. Depression, anxiety, panic attacks, psychotic symptoms, delirium and suicidal tendencies were majorly reported. With a dearth of trained Counselors in our Islands, ISMAT – a women’s initiative, proposes to conduct a workshop for peer supporter for dealing with the emotional stress associated with covid-19.

The volunteers will be able to address these situations in a positive way with empathy, deep listening and confidentiality. This will facilitate people to share their emotions, concerns, and clarify queries openly without fear of stigmatization. The Sessions will be conducted by eminent speakers who are experts in this field. The details of the session are as follows:

  1. Covid 19 – Its Physiological aspect, Myths, Reality, progression, prevention and its changing face by Dr. Avijit Ray, Nodal Officer (COVID) , DHS
  2. Psychological Effects of covid 19 , How to counsel – tips and tricks by Dr. Mitesh Behari, Consultant Neuro-psychiatrist & de-addiction specialist, Health 4 U Multi-Specialty Cinic
