Port Blair, Nov. 20: Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party had taken up the issue of non-availability of Veterinary Medicines at Andaman & Nicobar Islands especially in the remote regions of the Islands, where farmers are suffering since long, due to the non-availability of Veterinary Medicines. The matter was taken up with the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying.

The Director, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Andaman & Nicobar Administration today informed Bairagi that Veterinary Medicines for North & Middle Andaman will be loaded tomorrow and will be dispatched on Sunday. The medicines for Little Andaman has been loaded in M.V Coral Queen, which will be delivered tomorrow.

He further informed that inordinate delay in delivery of Veterinary Medicines was unavoidable because of the COVID-19 lockdown. The Director also informed the State President that next consignment of Veterinary Medicines for South Andaman from three companies will reach Port Blair latest by Tuesday.

It was also informed that this situation of non-availability of Veterinary Medicines in the Islands occurred because of the geographical location of the Islands.

Bairagi has expressed his gratitude towards Dr. Sanjeev Balyan, Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying for expediting the issue and ensuring that Veterinary Medicines reach the needy in the remote parts of the Islands, which was pending since a long time.
