Port Blair, Nov. 23: The District Administration has constituted a taskforce to monitor the use of loud speakers at all establishments including religious institutions as decided in the meeting convened by the Dy. Commissioner, South Andaman District on 17.11.2020..
The taskforce team comprises of Tehsildar, Port Blair, SHO, other Executive Magistrates, police personnel and ANPCC representative had initiated the inspection.
During the meeting convened by Dy. Commissioner (SA) due considerations to the suggestions/recommendations of the representatives of the religious institutions was given. The newly constituted team visited the religious intuitions in and around Port Blair and created awareness among the committee members of various religious institutions.
In compliance of the directions of Hon’ble National Green Tribunal maintenance of ambient noise standards is a mandatory requirement under the law. The A&N Pollution Control Committee has issued a notification in July 2019 in which the ambient air quality standard in respect of noise in different zone have been notified and also made available to the general public through print and electronic media.
The District Administration appeals to all those who are using loud speakers and other sound system to compliance the directions of Hon’ble National Green Tribunal (NGT) in letter and spirit.
