Port Blair, Jan 10: Consequent upon declaring part of Hutbay village as Micro Containment zone, to take first hand stock of the ground situation and arrangements required to be made and for better preparedness in the fight against COVID-19, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) led a team of officials comprising of Shri Ravi Kumar Singh, SP (SA), Dr. Omkar Singh, DHS, Shri Yash Chaudhary, ADM, Shri Prem Singh Meena, AC(S) and Shri Lakshay Singhal, AC(U/T) visited Little Andaman.

The team inspected PHC Hutbay, RK Pur and Health and Wellness centre at Harminder Bay. During the visit they interacted with Medical Officer (I/c), staff nurse and the field staffs. Further, the team also visited the COVID Care Centre and interacted with Doctors on duty and also with patients. Issues regarding food and water have been resolved and the patients have been assured of timely treatment and prompt action from the District Administration. Directions were issued to streamline field surveillance from door to door with special focus on co-morbid persons and it was reiterated that immediate delivery of medicine at homes of ILI suspects may be taken up on priority. The DC(SA) directed the officials for strict enforcement of COVID-19 protocols and to urged the people to avoid unnecessary travel.

The team also interacted with Ex-PRIs/PRIs, public and urged them for mobilisation of volunteers for effective fight against COVID -19 pandemic.

The District Administration, South Andaman has further posted Shri Lakshay Singhal, AC (U/T) as Tehsildar, Little Andaman and will be stationed there till the situation returns to normalcy.  He would take stock of the arrangements required to be made in COVID Care Centres and also local issues, if any.

It was assured by DC(SA) that the District Administration is fully committed in the fight against the pandemic in the inter islands and would provide all necessary assistance in this regard. Further the importance of the two GOLDEN PRINCIPLES of COVID-19: (1) Wear masks properly (2) Maintain social distancing/Do Gaz ki Doori was also emphasized during the interactions.
