Port Blair, Jan 20: The Indian Coast Guard is celebrating its 45th Raising Day on 01 Feb 2021. Indian Coast Guard as youngest Armed Force of India has taken giant strides towards ‘maritime safety and security’ and nation building. As the fourth largest Coast Guard in the world, Indian Coast Guard has played a significant role in securing the Indian coasts and enforcing the regulations within the Maritime Zone of India. Indian Coast Guard has been actively involved in security of Andaman & Nicobar Islands since its inception and is always ready to shoulder social obligations for betterment and development of local populace.
In order to commemorate Coast Guard Day Celebrations- 2021, Indian Coast Guard conducted webinar for students of various colleges & schools at Port Blair from 1030-1130 Hrs on 19 Jan 21. The aim of the event was to create awareness about the role of Indian Coast Guard in maritime and coastal security of nation by interacting with future generation of India. The event also provided platform to young and bright minds of our college/schools to know about career opportunities in Indian Coast Guard. Nine schools, colleges and Govt. institutions have participated in the ICG WEBINAR-2021.
The students attended the webinar with great enthusiasm and were excited to know about the role of Indian Coast Guard in maritime security of India and displayed interest in pursuing career in Indian Coast Guard. The conduct of such events provides platform for students and general public to know about Indian Coast Guard and motivate employable youth of the Islands to join Armed Forces of our nation. During the event, a promotional movie on Indian Coast Guard titled “Guardian of Sea’’ was also screened virtually as part of presentation followed by an interactive section.
At the end of the Webinar-2021 it was felt that, this Awareness Campaign not only enlightened the young generation but also motivated them to choose better career as these will further strengthen the foundation structure of Maritime Armed Forces of our great Nation.
