Port Blair, Jan 29: The Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs in line with its commitment towards the islanders and to protect the interest of consumers, today launched e-filing facility for lodging the consumer related complaints online at the UT as well as District level. With the availability of better information technology and its commitment towards better governance, the Department has developed digital solutions for five services under the Legal Metrology wing as mentioned below:

License as Dealer of weights & measures,

License as Repairer of weights & measures,

License as Manufacturer of weights & measures,

Registration as Packer of commodities,

Registration as Importer of commodities.

These solutions were developed in close coordination with SOVTECH, Dept. of IT under the e-district Mission Mode Project (MMP).

The services were launched on 28.01.2021 at 3:30 PM by Dr. Navlendra Kumar Singh, Joint Controller (LM)/Director (CS&CA) in the presence of Assistant Controller (LM) and other staff of the Directorate and media persons.

With the launch of these consumer oriented online services, the citizens intending to avail these services can do so from anywhere without having to visit the office by submitting application on-line through the e-district portal and uploading the required documents along with the application. The fee for all the Services can be made online. After inspection and approval by the Department, the applicant will be able to download the digitally signed copy of the Certificate online.
