Port Blair, March 11: As part of FSSAI initiative of Eat Right India movement, the Food Safety Department organized a Food Licensing and Registration Mela at Ferrargunj Community Hall for the benefit of new Food Business operators of the locality. About 57 new Food business operators of the adjoining areas visited the mela. The main aim of the mela was to facilitate new FBOs in obtaining license/registration certificates through the online portal of FSSAI.

The Food Safety Officers explained in detail about the procedures for uploading online applications, documents which are required to be uploaded along with License/Registration application form. Remittance of License fee through online were also explained in detail to the visitors. Two Licenses and Three Registration Certificates were also issued on the spot to the applicants.

A similar mela was also organized at the panchayat hall of Wimberlygunj for facilitating the new FBO’s of the area. 37 new FBO’s attended the mela and three registration certificates were issued to the FBO’s on the spot and six new applications for grant of licenses were uploaded in the portal for further processing.  

The Commissioner Food Safety/Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman has already deputed a team of Food Safety Officers to North & Middle Andaman District to organize Licensing/Registration melas at various parts of North & Middle Andaman District to ensure that no food business premises carry out their business without FSSAI license/registration certificates.
