Port Blair, March 16: In continuation of FSSAI initiative of Eat Right India movement, the Food Safety Department organized series of Food Licensing and Registration Mela in North & Middle Andaman District.
On 10th March 2021, a mela was organized at Subhashgram village in Diglipur Tehsil and around 208 food business operators participated and were briefed about online licensing & registration of food business through Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS) portal of FSSAI. Live demonstration of uploading application for grant/renewal of FSSAI licenses were carried out.
On 11th March, 2021, mela was organized at Pokadera Gram Panchayat hall, Mayabunder wherein 110 food business operators attended the mela. Two number of Registration Certificates were generated online on the spot and it marked the beginning of online licensing and registration of food business in North & Middle Andaman District.
On the same day a similar mela was also organized at Billiground wherein demonstration on uploading of applications through online and remittance of license fees in FoSCoS portal was made by the officials of Food Safety Department. 60 Nos. of FBOs attended the programme.
On 12th March, 2021 at Rangat Panchayat hall, a mela was organized wherein 112 Nos. of FBOs attended. Live demonstration of uploading applications for grant/renewal of licenses through FoSCoS portal was made and two Registration Certificates were generated on the spot.
On the same day a similar mela was organized at Oralkatcha, Baratang and the FBOs were sensitized in detail regarding FoSCoS portal.
The Commissioner Food Safety/Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman further informed that a team of Food Safety Officers have been already deputed to Swaraj Dweep & Shaheed Dweep to organize Licensing/Registration melas in both Islands to ensure that no food business premises shall carry out their business without FSSAI license/registration certificates.
