Port Blair, April 19: Director, IP&T, Shri Alok Kumar underlined the need for strictly adhering to COVID-19 protocol & COVID appropriate behavior by every citizen to contain the spread of corona virus in Isles. Addressing a COVID-19 media briefing in the conference hall of IP&T, the Director said the number of positive cases detected today during RAT conducted at Port Blair till 2 pm stood at 21. Out of this, 19 were flight passengers and 2 from Ferrargunj.

Informing about the vaccination drive being carried out in different parts of the Islands, the Director said it is going on smoothly and today till 2 pm about 2381 people have been vaccinated.  A total of 83,043 eligible people above 45+ have been vaccinated till April 18, 2021 in A&N Islands, he informed.

The Deputy Director (Malaria), GB Pant Hospital, Shri Amitabha De informed that medicines to treat positive patients are available in sufficient quantity and oxygen is available in surplus to meet the requirements. The queries raised by the media persons were also addressed. The Deputy Director, IP, Shri RS Meena also attended the press conference
