86, 838 Dozes of Vaccination Administered So Far

Port Blair, April 19: vaccination sessions are continuing in more than 30 designated vaccination centres set up in different parts of the Islands towards the fight against Corona virus in A& Islands.  Altogether 77 medical team engaged for the vaccination purpose is administering COVISHIELD vaccine to the eligible persons to cover maximum persons above 45+ on a daily basis.     The total vaccination dozes administered to the beneficiaries has now reached 86,838. Today (April 19), the medical teams in different designated Vaccination Centres have administered 3795 doses of COVISHIELD vaccine to the eligible persons.

Reaching out to the people of remote areas in the Islands, medical team from Health Department vaccinated about 36 people at three places in Little Nicobar viz. Macachua, Afra Bay & Pilolo. Similarly, the vaccination drive was conducted at remote areas in Diglipur viz. Beach Dera and Coffee Dera wherein 40 persons were vaccinated.

The response from the people of the Islands towards COVID vaccination drive launched by the A&N Administration is overwhelming as many eligible citizens have got themselves vaccinated willingly.

For the benefit of the eligible citizens and to cover maximum people above 45+, the vaccination drive is being carried by the teams of the Health Department on all days of the week including Sundays and holidays. To facilitate the general public, facility for onsite registration has also been created for those who are not able to register their names on COWIN portal.

All Islanders have been appeal to follow appropriate COVID-19 behavior due to the increase in the number of COVID cases in A&N Islands. People have been informed that maintaining social distance, washing hands and face along with wearing appropriate face masks is the key to restrict the spread of COVID cases in isles. The Administration has once again requested the general public to bring to the notice of the Administration if they come across people aged above 45+ not yet administered the first dose so that they too can be vaccinated at the earliest.
