Port Blair, April 21: In view of the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, increased incidences of passengers coming to North & Middle Andaman District from Port Blair after negative RAT testing in convoy and then becoming positive after few days and to prevent the spread of virus in the district the District Magistrate N&M Andaman District in pursuance of powers vested u/s 51 (b) of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and other to enforce strict compliance of the National Directives of COVID-19 and contain the spread of covid-19 N&M Andaman has directed that all persons coming to the district must undergo home quarantine for 07 (seven days) mandatorily from the date of arrival into the district except those who are on Govt. Duty. The drivers and staff of STS busses and cargo vehicles are exempted but have to follow the SOP.
Any person violating the directives shall be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51 and 60 of DM Act, 2005 besides legal action under section 188 of the IPC and other legal provisions as applicable.
