Port Blair, April 22: Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) alongwith Shri Hari Kallikkat, SDM (SA) and Ms. B. Yashaswini, AC (U/T) inspected the vaccination drive, field surveillance, door to door delivery of medicine and functioning of hospitals for Covid-19 management in the Primary Health Centres at Ferrargunj, Wimberlygunj and Tushnabad. He also interacted with the Medical Officers of the PHCs and enquired about the progress of vaccination drive and the preparedness of the PHC in the fight against COVID. The DC directed the Medical Officers to ensure that contact tracing, home quarantine should also be carried out in respect of all persons who are found positive. Surveillance for ILI/SARI cases should also be carried out on war footing to avoid its further spread.
He reiterated that the five-fold strategy of Testing, Tracing, Treatment, COVID appropriate behaviour and vaccination will be meticulously implemented in South Andaman.
They also made a visit to the Abhyudaya, a social welfare home for boys, disabled and old aged persons. During the brief stay of the team at Abyudaya, the DC (SA) had interaction with the children and senior citizens and enquired about their well-being. Further interacting with the care taker of the home, the DC (SA) asked them to ensure that the inmates are vaccinated at the earliest and also ensure strict adherence of the COVID appropriate behaviours.
In continuation with the steps being taken by the District Administration in the fight against COVID-19 Shri Suneel Anchipaka, DC (SA)/Chairman, District Registering Authority under Clinical Establishment held a review meeting with all private clinics and made an assessment of the Covid Situation. The DC(SA) urged them for timely reporting of ILI/SARI symptomatic cases and to become active partners in the fight against this pandemic.
