AYUSH systems of medicine helping people to build immunity against ILI including COVID-19: DD AYUSH
Port Blair, April 25: is universally acknowledged that “Good health is the harbinger of happiness” and the AYUSH systems of medicine are playing a pivotal role in boosting the body’s immune system and minimizing the impact of viral infections. The Ayurvedic herbs such as tulsi, cinnamon, blackpepper, dry ginger etc are effective to increase the body’s immunity against harmful viruses. Listing the series of initiatives by the A&N State AYUSH Society, A&N Administration functioning under Directorate of Health Services, the Deputy Director (AYUSH), Dr. Kalyan Kabdhane said that since the outbreak of corona virus, immunity boosting medicine line Arsenicum album 30 (homeopathy medicine), Giloy/ Samshawati (Ayurveda), Ayush Kadha and other immunity enhancing medicines are being distributed to the people through AYUSH Hospital and its others branches located at different places from Diglipur to Campbell Bay. Consuming 1-2 tea spoon of Chawanprash on empty stomach will be very helpful in boosting immunity. Diabetic patients can take sugar free chawanprash, he said.
These medicines have proved to be boosting the body’s immunity and it is being included in the kits provided to the ILI / SARI and people who comes in contact with COVID positive patients in A&N Islands.
Dr. Kalyan said people should take luke warm water at regular intervals and should consume freshly cooked warm, easily digestable food during the present pandemic period. He suggested to avoid foods like curds, banana, cooled drinks, refrigerated items which may trigger respiratory symptoms. Drinking 150 ml of herbal tea/ decoction (made by boiling tulsi (Basil), dalchini (Cinnamon), kalimirch, ginger, munaka (raisin) in water and consuming it by adding jagri or fresh lemon juice once or twice a day will be very helpful in fighting viruses. Gargaling with warm water twice a day, steam inhalation and daily practice of yoga, pranayama and meditation will also help in fighting the viral infections. These measures are advocated in addition to the COVID appropriate behaviour, he added.
