We cannot be complacent until the cases drastically comes down: Secretary IP&T
Port Blair, May 28: The Secretary (IP&T), Shri Sunil Kumar Singh addressing a press conference on COVID-19 and the arrangement made by A&N Administration to protect its citizens said that though there is a very marginal dip in the number of positive cases but we cannot be complacent until the cases drastically comes down. The Administration is closely monitoring the situation and urged the people to strictly adhere to COVID Appropriate Behaviour. He further stated that during the RTPCR test conducted on 236 flight passengers yesterday, no positive cases were found. He said today, 3 flights with 338 passengers arrived and the RTPCR Test report is awaited. Apart from this, 6 positive cases were found during the check conducted on Inter Island ship bound passengers at Phoenix Bay Jetty.
During the test conducted on 25 passengers bound for North & Middle Andaman at Ferrargunj, 2 positive cases have been reported. He said about 605 beneficiaries were vaccinated today in South Andaman, out of which 595 were 18+ while 10 were above 45+.
Giving details about the number of patients admitted in GB Pant Hospital, the Director, ANIIMS, Dr. AK Mandal disclosed that 66 COVID positive cases are presently undergoing treatment in the Hospital. Today, 5 COVID patients were discharged and 9 new patients have been admitted. He said 55 patients are on Oxygen support and 3 are on ventilators.
The Deputy Director, G.B. Pant Hospital, Shri Amitabha De said that in the three COVID Care Centres functioning in A&N Islands 1 case has been admitted today while 2 patients were discharged. Presently, 20 patients are being taken care of in these three COVID Care Centres. Apart from this, 4 patients are presently at Wimberlygunj COVID Care Centre. Out of this, 1 is new admission. 2 patients have been discharged from this Centre.
