Port Blair, May 30: The Secretary (IP&T), Shri Sunil Kumar Singh addressing the media briefing on COVID-19 and measures taken by A&N Administration in controlling the spread of the virus today urged the people to cooperate with the Administration in fighting corona virus. He appealed to take this pandemic seriously and continue to maintain discipline by strictly adhering to COVID Appropriate Behaviour viz. wearing face mask, washing hands/sanitization, social distancing etc. This will immensely help in flattening the COVID curve and make things easier & safer for each one of us.

The Secretary said that during the RT-PCR conducted on 135 incoming passengers who arrived here yesterday, 2 positive cases have been detected despite their carrying RT-PCR report from mainland. He further disclosed that today 4 flights with 501 passengers arrived today and the RT-PCR report is awaited. The Secretary further stated that during the RAT conducted on 61 passengers proceeding to N&M Andaman at Ferrargunj, 3 positive cases were found.

The Director, ANIIMS, Dr. AK Mandal disclosed that 68 COVID positive patients are presently undergoing treatment in the Hospital. Today, 2 COVID patients were discharged and 7 new patients have been admitted. He said, out of the 68 patients, 56 patients are on Oxygen and 4 are on ventilators. 

The Deputy Director, G.B. Pant Hospital, Shri Amitabha De said that in the three COVID Care Centres functioning in A&N Islands, 2 new cases have been admitted today while 5 patients were discharged. Presently, 15 patients are being taken care of in these three COVID Care Centres. Apart from this, one new corona patient has been admitted in Wimberlygunj COVID Care Centre. With this, the total number of patients admitted in this Centre is now 5.
