District Administration Distributes Kits to Needy Children

Port Blair, June 25: The South Andaman District Administration in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic has taken various actions to strengthen the healthcare facilities in order to provide better care to the patients and also ensure the welfare of the children who have lost their parents due to COVID-19. 

With the determined efforts of the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Jitendra Narain, 40 more oxygen concentrators have been received from the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa for the benefit of people of these islands as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which will further augment and improve the healthcare facilities in the islands. These concentrators were received by Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA), SDM(SA) and AC (U/T) on behalf of the Administration. The same were later handed over to the medical authorities for proper utilisation in the treatment of COVID patients requiring oxygen support.

The Chairman, District Child Protection Unit/Deputy Commissioner (SA) along with SDM(SA) and AC(U/T) distributed kits to the needy children who have lost either or both of their parents due to COVID-19 or otherwise at Garacharma. Around 35 kits were distributed to the needy children.

The District Administration ensures all possible support to the needy children who are badly affected during the pandemic by losing the breadwinner of their family.

The DC(SA)/Chairman, DCPU has further urged the Civil Society Organisations to come forward for the help of such children. Further DC(SA) has sought the cooperation of public in fighting the pandemic and reiterated that the Administration is committed to provide the best of services.
