Port Blair, June 30: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary to provide ship for Campbell Bay on 4th July 2021. He explained that patients, students and general public who are presently stranded at Port Blair don’t have proper place for shelter and food. Most of them have exhausted their money and they are in precarious situation.
The Member of Parliament appreciated the measures taken by the Administration from time to time for tackling the Covid-19 pandemic meticulously. He hailed the step by step relief for the people of these islands to come out from the state of despair and requested the Chief Secretary to make payment to persons who were engaged under MNEREGA scheme. Their payment has been kept in abeyance owing to Covid-19 lockdown.
The MP also welcomed the decision of the Administration on the relaxation in lockdown from 6 am to 3 pm which is a great help for the daily earners as well as traders. He requested the Chief Secretary to resume the ferry service between Dundas Point to Chatham jetty and from Hope town to Phoenix bay jetty frequently during 6 am to 10 am and 1 PM to 3 PM without insisting for E-pass from the commuters who are availing the facility. He also requested that the connecting buses to various destinations from Dundas Point Jetty, Hope town jetty, Phoenix Bay jetty and Chatham Jetty may be made available frequently as per the boat schedule.
