Port Blair, July 19: Kajol Ahmed @ David Peter, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh had been arrested U/s 463/464/465/467/468/471/419/120(B) IPC r.w.s 14 Foreigners (Amendment) Act 2004, Sec. 7/8 PAT (Amendment) Reg. 2012, Sec. 3/4/9 of Officials Secrets Act -1923 on 18th May 2014 by CCS Police Station.

During further investigation of the case Ex-Councillor S.Muthu Raman, Ward No-11 has been arrested. He had issued residence and birth certificate to the illegal immigrant which facilitated issuance of Local Certificate and other certificates to him. Ex-Councillor was remanded to two days of Police Custody at expiry of which he has been remanded to judicial custody.

During investigations of this case Ex-Chairperson (PBMC) Mr. K.Ganeshan, Ex-Councillor Mr. Mahender Prasad and Tehsildar Casper James were arrested earlier for issuing certificates to the illegal immigrant which helped him acquire important documents including Local Certificate.  

General public is requested to be eyes and ear of the police and report about any Bangladeshi to the police. The name of the informer will be kept secret.
