Port Blair, July 26: Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) celebrated ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ at Birchgunj Military Station on 26 July 2021 to commemorate India’s victory during the 1999 Kargil War. 

‘Wreath Laying Ceremony’ by a Joint- service guard comprising of all components of ANC was organised to pay homage to the martyrs of  the Kargil War, who made the supreme sacrifice, upholding the highest traditions of the Indian Armed Forces. Lieutenant General Ajai Singh, AVSM, Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) laid a wreath to honour the martyrs during the occasion.  Veterans of all three services residing in Andaman & Nicobar Islands (ANI) were also invited for the function.

In his address during tea with troops, the CINCAN remembering the Kargil Victory, emphasized that jointmanship and preparedness for war at all times gives us an exponential advantage in the battle field. The wreath laying ceremony was followed with tea and interaction with troops of all three services. The event was also attended by a large number of veterans. All COVID-19 protocol measures were followed by the personnel present at the event.
