Port Blair, Oct. 4: Tourism Association of Andaman & Nicobar organised a Massive Plantation Drive in the Arrival Terminal, VSI Airport, Port Blair today from 10:00 am onward to commemorate and mark the 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The drive was held in association with Airports Authority of India & Dept. of Environment & Forests, A&N Admn.

The function was presided over by Shri. Manoj Gangal, Regional Executive Director (Eastern Region), Airports Authority of India, Kolkata and Dr. G. Trinadh Kumar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests (R&WP), A&N Forests, A&N Admn. They highlighted the importance of planting saplings and also shared valuable information on how small steps like planting trees from human beings could be indirectly beneficial to them and to preserve mother nature, such events need to be encouraged at all times.

A welcome note was given by Shri. Ankit Kumar Tripathi, Vice President, TAAN.

The plantation was graced by Shri. Jameel Khaliq, Airport Director, VSI Airport, Port Blair, Shri. Rajinder Singh, Dy. Commandant, CISF / CASO, VSI Airport, Port Blair, Shri. G. Prakash Reddy, GM (Engg.), VSI Airport, Port Blair and Shri. Ayyub Hassan, IFS, DFO (FE & PD), A&N Forests, A&N Admn.

Altogether 75 saplings have been observed in the premises by the dignitaries, officials present, visitors and students. The drive concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri. Mohd. Shabbir Hussain, President, TAAN.
