Port Blair, Oct. 6: Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has wished the Islanders on the occasion of the start of Navratri. The festival of Navratri is celebrated in different ways all across India. In some parts of India the festival of Navratri is time for religious reflection and fasting, whereas in other parts it is the time of the year where people dance and feast.

The world is recovering slowly from the deadly COVID-19 pandemic. Bairagi hopes that this festival of Navratri brings peace, love, good health and prosperity to all Islanders.

During the festival of Navratri the Hindus worship the nine forms of Goddess Duruga who destroyed the demon Mahishasura. The festival celebrates the victory of good over evil.
