Discusses Environmental Clearance for Proposed Mega Project

Port Blair, Oct. 6: Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency called on Shri Bhupender Yadav, Hon'ble Union Cabinet Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Labour & Employment, Government of India today at New Delhi.

The Lt Governor discussed single window mechanism for Forest, Wildlife and Environmental clearances in respect of mega projects being steered through Islands Development Agency. With Forest cover in excess of 90%, deliberated on challenges in Compensatory Afforestation and land availability for essential strategic infrastructure and Developmental projects aligned to responsible and sustainable environmental norms ensuring ecological integrity.
