Port Blair, Oct. 11: The extended Central Executive Committee meeting of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands was organised on 9th October, 2021 at Crusade House premises which expressed serious apprehension on the recently published news in the local daily regarding the Administration’s stand on the non-continuation of contract period of the employees serving in various departments of the Administration on contract basis. The meeting noted that instead of terminating the services of these poor employees and workers, the Administration has to initiate steps to regularise the services of these employees as they served for a long period and most of them are over aged.

The meeting also passed a resolution against the sky rocketing price rise of essential commodities in these islands which is hitting hard on the pocket of common man and the government employees. The meeting expressed concern over the non-filling up of around 9000 vacant posts in various departments which is putting undue work pressure on the employees who are presently working under the A & N Administration.

The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association congratulated Shri P.Sabeel, UPSC CSE rank holder who had made these islands proud by securing 485th All India Rank and is expected to join Indian Revenue Service shortly. The meeting discussed various pending issues pertaining to various categories of employees and decided to step-up pressure on authorities for its early settlement.

The meeting was presided by Shri R.Rajendran, President while Shri T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary of the Association presented the report on the period under report. Shri R.Surendran Pillai, Asst. General Secretary proposed Vote of thanks.
