Port Blair, Oct. 17: The brave fire fighters of A & N Fire Service averted a major fire mishap by timely intervention and prompt action.  On 17th October, 2021 at about 0002 hours a message received at Fire Control Room stating that fire broke out in double storied wooden building near Community Hall of School Line, Port Blair.   Immediately, Water Tender and a Multi Utility vehicle with all essential accessories from Fire Station Aberdeen were pressed into the scene of fire. 

On reaching the spot, it was noticed that a switch board in the rented room situated in a ground floor of double storied wooden building caught fire due to short circuit.  Fire personnels immediately swung into action and extinguished the fire immediately within half an hour.   Yet again the A&N Fire Service personnel proved their mantle by good workmanship in saving property worth of Rs.30.00 Lakhs whereas the loss was estimated merely Rs.7000/- by averting a major fire mishap in the heavily populated area.   The entire fire fighting operation was carried out under the team led by Inspector Fire Service (HQ) S. Sadhukhan and Station Officer, Saibal Sinha under the supervision of Dy.SP (Fire) and overall supervision of SP (Fire), A & N Islands.
