Port Blair, Oct. 18: The Hindu Rashtra Shakti (HRS) has requested Air Ganga Airlines/ Virgo Air to commence its services in Port Blair sector at the earliest. In a letter to Captain Sikander Rizvi of M/s Air Ganga Airlines / Virgo Air, Shri Rakeshwar Lall, State President, HRS congratulated him for launching the Air Ganga Airlines service in India and requested to operate the Air Ganga service from Port Blair to Mainland (Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi). The cost of airlines from Chennai to Port Blair ranges from Rs.8000-Rs.29,000. Similarly airfare between Kolkata and Port Blair, ranges from Rs. 12,000-Rs. 28,000, which is unaffordable for many islanders, especially people from low-income groups and Islanders.

The Hindu Rashtra Shakti of Andaman and Nicobar Islands thus requested the airline company to commence their services at a low cost for Islanders. Commencing of Air Ganga Airlines will also ensure that the educated unemployed get job opportunities, Lall said.
