Port Blair, Oct. 24: The A&N Police is organizing 10 days Police Commemorative events from 21st October till Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31st October. These programmes are being held to spread awareness about the role, contribution and sacrifice made by the Police personnel in maintenance of internal security of the nation.

On 23nd October, India Reserve Battalion of A & N Police organised a cleanliness drive at Mazar Pahad sea shore area in the presence of brand ambassador of Swachh Bharat Mission, Padmashree awardee, Shri Naresh Chandra Lall, as part of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.

A total of 70 IRBn personnel of various ranks actively participated in the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ event after the office hours and removed the plastic and other garbage to make seashore area plastic free by disposing off all waste material in a systematic manner. The motive behind cleanliness drive was to promote cleanliness, hygiene and also to sensitize the general public about the services rendered by Police personnel to the nation. Staff of IRBn segregated dry waste from wet waste and disposed off as per norms in coordination with PBMC. Efforts were made to involve local residents and to sensitize them.
