Kamorta, Dec. 3: Usha International Ltd. is a responsible corporate citizen committed to empowering women from rural sections through skill development and supporting them on the path of financial independence and entrepreneurship. Ushal Silai School started by Usha International Ltd. in 2011 is a community based initiative with the aim of skilling rural women and empowering them to become entrepreneurs. More than 5 lakh women and girls have been taught stitching and sewing skills to help them earn a livelihood in their respective communities. More than 23,000 Usha Silai Schools are imparting training everyday across the country.

Usha International Ltd. in partnership with Tribal Development Council (TDC), headed by Shri Rashid Yusoof, Chairman, TDC has launched 10 new Usha Silai School jointly in Nancowry, Nicobar District. The trainings were organised from 29th Nov. 2021 and will continue till 7th Dec. 2021 at the Community Hall, Kamorta. The women entrepreneurs belong to poor tribal communities and have been selected from different villages.

The inaugural programme of the Silai School was organised on 2nd Dec. 2021. Shri Abishek Bhukal, Assistant Commissioner, Nancowry, Shti Ayesha Majid, Chairperson Tribal Council, Nancowry, Shri Aslam Majid, First Captain, Kamorta, Shri Charles Jacob, Chairman, Tribal Council, Kamorta, Shri Pilgrim Atkinson, Secretary Tribal Council, Commanding Officer, ICGS Kamorta and Shri Saikat Nasker, Regional Manager, East, Usha International Limited graced the occasion.
